Audio conference startup Voxeet raises $1.5 million, launches internationally

Voxeet, an audio conference service, announced today that it took in a $1.5 million round, led by LDV Partners.

The startup also announced the international launch of Voxeet 4.0, a service that builds on the startup’s “3D TrueVoice surround sound” technology to offer what the company is calling “the richest audio available with powerful collaboration features.”

“Conference calling is a massive market opportunity in Asia,” said LDV Partners’ Wayne Zhang. “Voxeet has built the best audio optimization technology and is in a position to do very well in countries like China, where bandwidth challenges are commonplace.”

Voxeet Expands Network, Adds Collaboration Functions

Voxeet is one of those applications that almost certainly will go viral once it gets a few users to tell their friends, who tell their friends, and so on.

Voxeet, a startup whose mission is to eradicate conference calls as we know them and replace them with clear, clean voice transmissions on any device, is expanding its network globally.

The Sausalito, Calif.-based company, which on April 6 relaunched v4.0 of its free-to-use cloud app, told eWEEK that it turned on its international service the same day, utilizing data centers in Europe and Asia-Pacific in addition to its main center in Virginia.

Canadian firm uses mobile collaboration for a morning ‘huddle’

Large, on-premise conferencing solutions can be useful for well-resourced companies with in-house IT teams, but companies without dedicated IT staff need something smaller and simpler. Cloud-based collaboration systems can help bridge this gap.

Next week, San Francisco-based Voxeet launches the fourth iteration of its mobile and desktop-based audio conferencing system, designed to give companies an audio conferencing and collaboration system tailored to include mobile users.
